Catholics recognize the importance of being ‘leaven’ for the world (see Mt 13:33, Luke 13:21). Good works, inspired by faith, show forth the glory of the Kingdom of God in our midst, even now, though not yet in its fullness.

   When the Christian faith is limited to the experience of Sunday morning Church, the Gospel is taken hostage. Catholics must go out into the world–cleansed of their sins by the Blood of the Cross, nourished by Word and Sacrament in the Sacred Liturgy, and commissioned by the Holy Spirit to do amazing things—and generations of Catholics have done just that, establishing schools and hospitals, going on missions to far-away lands, taking care of the poorest-of-the-poor, and defending those who are most defenseless in our midst.
